Spring Social Feedback

It was great to see members who hadn't been around for a while, as well as some new faces checking out the group. Even with a few apologies coming in, the event ended up being a success, mainly thanks to the delicious blueberry muffins, and savoury dishes prepared by the committee. Transport Offer

If any member needs transportation to any of the events, feel free to give us a call, and we can organise a ride for you. Similarly, if anyone requires transport to an important medical appointment, Leslie would be happy to oblige after all the support he received following his accident.

Your Association Needs You

We've noticed a significant drop in attendance at our social events. We would greatly appreciate your support and involvement to help ensure the success of future events.

Quarterly Newsletter

You can sign up to receive a free Quarterly Newsletter sent electronically to your email. The Newsletter will also be available on the website and YRA Facebook Group page in pdf format. Paper copies can be arranged for those without internet access.

Social Events Bookings

This is to clarify that those wishing to book for future YRA Social Events, an envelope with all your details, preferences, and payments (Cash or Cheque), submitted to Lynne Somerville - 21 Yaverland Close or to your nearest committee member, before the due date, will suffice. There is no need to print the booking slips if you don’t have access to printing facilities.

Sandown Bowls Club Parking

Parking is available for our social events under the trees (not in the council car park). Its IMPORTANT to register your car number plate on the Bowls Club tablet located by the entrance door (even if its just to collect or drop a member off). Anyone parking in the tarmac marked parking bays of the council car park have to pay at the machine.
(Please Note: Fines received or queries have to be dealt DIRECTLY with the Parking Company.)

Our Condolences:
We are sad to announce the passing away of our long-term YRA member, Colin Day, of Yaverland Close. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Mhairi and family during this difficult time.

Monthly Thurs Social Update
Our usual pop-in Thurs Monthly Social at Pluto’s Café will follow the cafes May opening times on 14 May 2026 which is currently 11am to 1pm. There won’t be a monthly drop-in for June as it clashes with the YRA Summer BBQ.

Report Fraud is the new service that has now replaced Action Fraud.. You should report cyber-crime and fraud here from now on - https://www.reportfraud.police.uk or Call 0300 123 2040 in cases of emergency.
